The only thing this tea has in common with the plum is its shape. Dozens of tender, unopened leaf buds are carefully tied together with a fine thread, then rolled by hand to form a silver shining ball the size of a marble. When infused with hot water it slowly unfolds to a rosette releasing its subtle and complex aroma. Like other rosette teas, we recommend preparing the Silver Spring Plum in a glass to be able to fully enjoy its beauty. Once emptied, the glass may be refilled with water until the flavor fades.

This rosette does not turn bitter even after extended brewing time. Because of it's simple brewing the Silver Plum is a perfect travel or commuter tea.

The beverage green tea is a "true" tea (i.e., Camellia sinensis) that has undergone minimal oxidation during processing. The shorter processing gives green tea a lighter flavour than black tea. It also helps keep all the beneficial chemicals intact, which is why green tea is so good for you. All the different kinds of green tea have different flavours, but they do have a taste in common. The flavour of green tea can be described as: fresh, light, green, or grassy. Some varieties of green tea have a bit of sweetness to them, and some are a little astringent. The variety as well as the location in which is it grown will determine all the nuances of the leaf.

Because the leaf has little oxidation, green tea reportedly contains the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols. These antioxidants in green tea have been shown to neutralize free radicals and may reduce or even help prevent some of the damage they cause.

Use one rosette per 6 oz. cup; heat fresh water until it is steaming briskly (not boiling); let steep for 5 min. Good for multiple infusions.
